IEEE GLOBECOM 2024 kicked-off today in the Cape Town, South Africa. As part of this prestigious event, a paper by IS-Wireless partner, acknowledging the 6G-SANDBOX project, was presented today during the session MWN-S01: 5G/6G Networks. On the 21st – 23rd of October, the IEEE CAMAD 2024 was successfully held in Athens. 6G-SANDBOX, technically sponsored the conference, along with other projects. Additionally, 6G-SANDBOX co-organised a workshop titled ‘Empowering 6G Networks: First Workshop on Advancements in Research Infrastructures, Adaptive Frameworks and Global Architectural Evolution (Athena 2024). This workshop was chaired Dr. Harilaos Koumaras from NCSR Demokritos – Future Communication Networks – FRONT Research Group. The workshop had announced Call for Papers, and 19 papers were accepted and presented. Our partners, INFOLYSiS, NCSR ‘DEMOKRITOS’, OTE and LENOVO actively participated supporting the project with the following actions:
1. Demo Booth – NCSR “DEMOKRITOS”, INFOLYSiS and OTE Group of Companies (HTO) held a demo booth, where the B5G Athens Experimentation Platform was presented by George Makropoulos and Dr. Harilaos Koumaras.

On October 24th, our partner, the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) | Queen’s University Belfast will host their Annual Symposium. This event will showcase the future of hashtag#Antennas and hashtag#Propagation and their pivotal role in advancing 6G technologies. Topics will cover a wide range of applications, including Wireless Communications, Sensing, Imaging, and the Internet of Things (IoT). During session Session 1, ANTENNAS & PROPAGATION, Dmitry Zelenchuk, will present RIS and antennas and QUB’s work in 6G-SANDBOX.

On the 11-14th of September, the 2nd Conference on Radiocommunications and Teleinformatics took place at Poznan University of Technology, in Poland. Robert Gdowski, Innovation Manager at IS-Wireless, talked about the experience of participating in 6G projects, including 6G-SANDBOX Project.
The 6G-SANDBOX project was showcased as an example of IS-Wireless’s 5G/6G Lab/testbed deployment. It highlighted the project’s significance within the SNS JU, noting its role as one of the three key 6G testbed projects that provide support to researchers across Europe.

On the 10-11th of June the 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 (𝗝𝗖𝗦𝗗 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰) was held in Cadiz, Spain! This edition was jointly organized by the University of Cádiz and the Complutense University of Madrid.

The primary goal of this conference is to showcase the work currently being done by various university departments, research centers, R&D departments, and companies in the IT sector on topics related to concurrency and distributed systems (concurrent programming, real-time systems, modeling, analysis, and control of concurrent systems, blockchain, and languages and architectures, among others).
This type of event provides an excellent opportunity for establishing cooperative links between different research groups from various Spanish universities. This cooperation often translates into coordinated funding requests for joint research projects. These Conferences also serve as an excellent forum for industry and research centers to meet and exchange interests and opinions. Furthermore, such conferences provide an opportunity for early-career researchers to present their initial research work to the national community in a well-established national event.

On the 21st – 23rd of April the 23rd IEEE WCNC 2024, was held in Dubai, UAE. Dr. Masoud Shokrnezhad from University of Oulu partner, presented the following 3 papers:
We proudly participated at ETSI NTN Event organised by ETSI, which was held in Sophia Antipolis France (3-4 April 2024), where David Artuñedo from Telefónica partner, delivered a presentation, in a full room, entitled ‘6𝙂-𝙎𝘼𝙉𝘿𝘽𝙊𝙓 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙉𝙏𝙉-6𝙂’ in the context of Session 5-EC FUNDED / CELTIC / SNS / OTHER RESEARCH PROJECTS. David, began his presentation with the Trial Network Definition in 6G-SANDBOX framework, and continued among others, with the NTN communication as backhaul, and multipath protocols, finalizing his speech with the presentation of the MoU between 6G-SANDBOX with European Space Agency – ESA and how OpenCAPIF is being leveraged in 6G-SANDBOX Project’s activities towards Non Terrestrial Networks.

On the 17-20th of March the 18th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation was held in Glasgow, Scotland. In this context, our partner Queen’s University Belfast, represented by Dmitry Zelenchuk, presented the paper ‘‘Wideband, dual-polarization, 1-bit Unit-cell Design for millimeter-wave Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface Applications’.
