The document provides a comprehensive overview of the project’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Value Indicators (KVIs). On top of this the document explores the experimentation framework, including the lifecycle of experiments and the methodology for validating KPIs and KVIs, as well as the involved stakeholders their role within the project. Moreover, it presents the key technologies and the role of 6G library within a trial network.

6G-SANDBOX at 5G-FORUM, Seville, Spain

As every year, our partner Universidad de Málaga will host a booth at the event, featuring also the 6G-SANDBOX project! Now in its third year, the project continues to advance, and there’s no better way to catch up on our progress than by speaking with our Technical Manager, Pedro Merino Gomez. Pedro will also give a speech on May 13th at 10:05 AM, titled: “Los Proyectos Europeos que desarrollan y prueban 6G sobre Red Victoria”, where he’ll present insights into how European projects are developing and testing 6G technologies including 6G-SANDBOX. 6G-SANDBOX at ETSI 6G MONDAY event

The 6G Monday event, held on April 14th in Sophia Antipolis, France, showcased EU-funded projects contributing to the development of 6G standards. Among the highlights was Dr. Dimitris Tsolkas, Vice Chair of the ETSI SDG OpenCAPIF and a representative of FOGUS, who presented the 6G-SANDBOX project during Session 3 titled ‘From Research to Standards – EU Projects Making Real Impact in ETSI.‘, moderated by David Boswarthick, ETSI’s Director of Strategy & Innovation

Session 3 was divided into two key sub-sections: ‘Deep-Dive on Sensing for 6G’ and ‘The Role of Open Source in 6G.’ .The second sub-section included insights from Silvia Almagia, ETSI’s Director of Software and Standards, and David Artuñedo, Chair of ETSI SDG OpenCAPIF and a representative from Telefonica.

Dimitris Tsolkas highlighted the 6G-SANDBOX project’s approach on leveraging and contributing to open-source.

The session concluded with a panel discussion titled ‘What More Needs to be Done in ETSI to Accelerate Research Input into Standards?’

University of Malaga at ‘Smart Living Marbella’ Event

On March 27–28, 2025, the Congreso Internacional Smart Living Marbella brought together top experts in innovation and digital transformation at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones Adolfo Suárez in Marbella. Among the distinguished speakers was Prof. Pedro Merino Gómez, Director of the Institute for Software Technology and Software Engineering (ITIS UMA) and Technical Manager of 6G-SANDBOX. Prof. Merino participated in the roundtable discussion titled “Smart Tourism: How 5G and 6G Technology Influence Various Aspects of Tourism.” The panel, moderated by Carmen Aguayo, Professor at the University of Málaga

In his talk, Pedro Merino presented the Málaga Platform and 6G-SANDBOX project.

He also highlighted how specific 6G innovations like JCAS, RIS, and NTN & 5G Integration are poised to transform tourism.
