6G-SANDBOX poster at 6GEM project’s General Assembly

In the context of the 6GEM project’s General Assembly, which was held on the 6th-7th November, at the Fraunhofer FOKUS premises, 6G-SANDBOX was part of the poster session with the the intention to attract new experiments for 6G-SANDBOX platforms. Our project coordinator, Michael Dieudonne, represented the project.

State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures visits University of Malaga

On October 28th, a delegation from the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures visited the “José María Troya Linero” Institute of Software Technology and Engineering at the University of Malaga. The aim of the visit was to show the research infrastructure Victoria Network and the 5G+Tactile and 6G-SANDBOX projects. Our project coordinator Michael Dieudonne guided them through the new Keysight room in the Ada Byron building, and they also visited the Keysight facilities at the University of Málaga, gaining a close-up view of the research advancements. 6G-SANDBOX 5th Plenary Meeting in Malaga

On the 30th-31st of October , the 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝟲𝗚-𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗕𝗢𝗫 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 took place at the Universidad de Málaga in Málaga, Spain.

Keysight presents 6G-SANDBOX in IEEE Future Networks World Forum in Dubai

On the 15th-17th of October 2024, the IEEE Future Networks World Forum was held in Dubai. in this context. Isaam Maaz from Keysight, presented during Symposium on 6G Communications their research portfolio, focusing, among others, on 6G-SANDBOX testbeds, Digital twins and experimentation opportunities.

‘6G networks are expected to capitalize on high-performance computing, quantum computing, AI/ML, etc. Resource management will be crucial within 6G, and the network complexity will pose a challenge due to the very diverse applications and services, such as ultra-low latency, the growing demand for high positioning accuracy, dense heterogeneous architectures, machine-to-machine communication, the embodiment of sensing in communication systems, and contactless exchange of data, etc.’

6G-SANDBOX in IEEE CAMAD 2024

On the 21st – 23rd of October, the IEEE CAMAD 2024 was successfully held in Athens. 6G-SANDBOX, technically sponsored the conference, along with other projects. Additionally, 6G-SANDBOX co-organised a workshop titled Empowering 6G Networks: First Workshop on Advancements in Research Infrastructures, Adaptive Frameworks and Global Architectural Evolution (Athena 2024). This workshop was chaired Dr. Harilaos Koumaras from NCSR Demokritos – Future Communication Networks – FRONT Research Group. The workshop had announced Call for Papers, and 19 papers were accepted and presented. Our partners, INFOLYSiS, NCSR ‘DEMOKRITOS’, OTE and LENOVO actively participated supporting the project with the following actions:

1. Demo BoothNCSR “DEMOKRITOS”​, INFOLYSiS and OTE Group of Companies (HTO) held a demo booth, where the B5G Athens Experimentation Platform was presented by George Makropoulos and Dr. Harilaos Koumaras.

Queen’s University Belfast’s Annual Symposium – Register now

On October 24th, our partner, the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) | Queen’s University Belfast will host their Annual Symposium. This event will showcase the future of hashtag#Antennas and hashtag#Propagation and their pivotal role in advancing 6G technologies. Topics will cover a wide range of applications, including Wireless Communications, Sensing, Imaging, and the Internet of Things (IoT). During session Session 1, ANTENNAS & PROPAGATION, Dmitry Zelenchuk, will present RIS and antennas and QUB’s work in 6G-SANDBOX.

6G-SANDBOX at 3rd EU-TAIWAN 6G SNS Joint Workshop

On the 8th of October, during the 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗘𝗨-𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗪𝗔𝗡 𝟲𝗚 𝗦𝗡𝗦 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, our Project Coordinator, Michael Dieudonne from Keysight presented 6G-SANDBOX in the ‘𝗘𝗨-𝗧𝗮𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻’ session and participated in the panel discussion on ‘𝟲𝗚 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.’ Additionally, Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), showcased, a new indoor sensing solution based on antennas arrays, using ray-tracing simulations integrated this year into the digital twin of the European 6G-SANDBOX Project experimentation platform.

Nokia won the Best Demo Award

From September 2nd to 5th, during the IEEE 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹, 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, our partner Nokia hosted a booth showcasing their telepresence platform. This demonstration featured a solution optimized for 5G networks, utilizing the cutting-edge 𝗲𝗫𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗫𝗥) 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 developed within the 6G-SANDBOX project. The innovative demo earned the 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 at the symposium, underscoring its excellence and impact in the field.
