On the 24-25th of January 2024 our Project Coordinator, Michael Deudionne (Keysight), our Technical Coordinator, Pedro Merino (UMA) and David Artunedo (Telefonica) visited the 5G/6G Hub, based at the European Space Agency – ESA‘s European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications (ECSAT). During their tour, the 3 representatives of 6G-SANDBOX, had the opportunity to experience augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) and explore the capabilities enabled by innovative uses of 5G and satcom technologies!We are looking forward for further collaboration in the future and thank you for the amazing tour!

On the 14th of December, in the context of the 25th INFOCOM 2023, which is held in Athens, Greece, Dr. Harilaos Koumaras from NSCRD ‘Demokritos’, presented 6G-SANDBOX, in the context of the Workshop: “Modern Research and Development Projects: Creating the Pillar for Investment and Innovations in the ICT Converged (Vertical) Markets”For more info => https://infocomworld.gr/en/

On the 13th of December, our project coordinator, presented 6G-SANDBOX Project and the Open Call 2 definition and procedure for the interested parties.

On the 4th-8th December, IEEE GLOBECOM 2023 took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this context, Chafika Benzaid and Mohammad Farhoudi from University of Oulu, presented 5 conference papers. These papers were presented in the context of the following Sessions:
MWN 1: ADVANCES IN 5G/6G NETWORKS I
IS 3: Interactive Subsession CT_I3
SAC/CC 4: Network Slicing in 5G
MWN 13: Networking Slicing Optimization and Security. You can find the presentations here

During the Open Call Period (submission deadline 23rd of June), we received 36 Proposals in total.
The proposals we received were from the following countries (graph 1) and from the following types of organizations (graph 2):
From the 36 proposals submitted, 3 of them were not eligible and as a result, 33 were evaluated and 7 were accepted (success rate 21%).
The accepted proposals are from the following countries in pie chart 1 (based on origin of leading proposal organization) and the following types of organizations in visible in pie chart 2.

The 6G-SANDBOX project, announces the 2nd Open Call ‘𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 & 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴’!
The purpose of the Open Call is twofold.
𝗢𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝟭 – New infrastructures and functionalities (extensions): Enlarge and make the 6G-SANDBOX experimental infrastructure ready for advanced experimentation in upcoming project open calls for experimentation. New 6G features and functionalities should be integrated into the 6G-SANDBOX infrastructure.
𝗢𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝟮 – Innovative experiments: Initiate first funded innovative experiments on the 6G-SANDBOX infrastructure. Innovative 6G use cases and KPI measurements are expected to use the 6G-SANDBOX infrastructure.
